Clean Current Partnering in Tidal Power Research Project in Nova Scotia

14 Oct

Clean Current is a partner in a research project being conducted by Acadia University, Fundy Tidal Inc., Dalhousie University, and others. The goal of the project is to reduce the cost of in-stream tidal energy generation through comprehensive hydrodynamic site assessment.  A Clean Current 3.5m tidal turbine is scheduled to be installed in the Bay of Fundy in the fall of 2014 to validate the mathematical models that will be developed as part of the project.  At the conclusion of the project, the best locations for small-scale tidal power projects in Digby County are expected to be identified and will be developed under the province’s COMFIT (Community Feed-In Tariff).  Acadia’s press release on the project can be found here.
